About Me
Hello! My name is Teyoman Gokcek. I am a student at Pacific Sands Academy and part of the class of 2022. I was born in California, and this has been my first and last year as a student in Pacific Sands Academy due to me graduating this year. In the short time I have spent as a student of this Academy, I have learned so much on so many subjects. Some of my favorite include mathematics, history, economics, and philosophy. I am very optimistic about my future as I plan to attend college next year, something I would not have been so excited about if I had stayed at my previous school.
My educational journey was like most others Prior to 2020. I didn't really think much about the concept of education, though I didn't like government schools due to poor quality teachers and a lack of interest in what I was learning. At the time I thought it was tolerable enough to endure and that everyone else goes through it so it's just part and parcel of living.

My feelings toward school started to change however, and it made me start to ask about what opportunities I have regarding schooling as soon as the lockdowns began. For the rest of my second semester at that time, I was hardly assigned anything to learn. Looking back at the event I barely remember what I did during that time.

Though it got better in the next year when everything was finally moved onto Zoom, it still was awful compared to the in-person learning of last year. School was already pretty bad so moving it online didn't do anything for its already abysmal record. It was at that point, coupled with the fact that they were gonna start to get kids to go back to in person learning with mask mandates that I decided to switch to Pacific Sands Academy.

Since then, every time I've looked back at that choice I've thought of it as one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only have it surpassed the online learning experience I had last year, but it's as well easily surpassed my in-person learning experience from all of the years beforehand. I've been able to get so much done in such little time, reading great books and getting tons of college credit.
